Jamey has tried an array of cases, including personal injury, employment, and contract cases. He also has substantial experience in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration. Jamey regularly appears in Ohio state courts, as well as Federal District Courts in Ohio. Jamey has represented individuals, businesses, governmental entities and employees, insurance companies and their insureds at all stages of litigation. He has assisted insurers with coverage opinions, and has successfully litigated declaratory judgment actions for insurers dealing with a wide array of coverage issues. Jamey has also defended insureds against any and all types of tort claims. Jamey furthers and shares his experience in these areas through his involvement with the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys, where he currently is Chair of the Personal Injury Defense Committee. In January of 2010, Jamey presented testimony on behalf of OACTA to the Ohio General Assembly in opposition to a bill proposed to legislatively overrule the Ohio Supreme Court’s decision in Robinson v. Bates. Jamey has also written appellate updates for the OACTA Quarterly, and has also been a speaker at OACTA’s annual meeting. Jamey has an active appellate practice. At the state level, he has successfully litigated appeals in six of Ohio’s twelve appellate districts, which has involved briefing and arguing a variety of issues on appeal, including governmental immunity, uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, tort law, privileges, and statute of limitations issues. Jamey has also briefed a key uninsured/underinsured motorist issue that reached the Ohio Supreme Court, and resulted in a favorable decision for insurers involving the use of extrinsic evidence relating to the rejection of uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. At the Federal level, he has briefed numerous cases to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, including qualified immunity and employment issues. Jamey was named by his peers for 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009 to Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars. This is an honor given to just 2.5% of Ohio attorneys. Before opening his firm with his partner, Lynnette Dinkler, Jamey worked in civil litigation firms in Dayton, Ohio. Before moving to Ohio, Jamey completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa, and graduated with honors from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa. Jamey practiced as a criminal defense attorney in Des Moines, and tried felony and misdemeanor cases in Iowa before relocating to Ohio. Outside of his practice, Jamey is active in the community. He has been active in the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, and is currently the vice president of the Cincinnati-Dayton chapter of the Iowa Club. The Iowa Club conducts and coordinates events and programs involving the organization of the alumni, former students, and friends of the University of Iowa.
